Coaching and TrainingClubs are the focus of coaching and training in our sport, though Sussex also run special 'Sussex Squad Training' for selected athletes alongside their club activities. You can find out more about what is available through the UKA website: www.ukathletics.net. CompetitionThe following are the main types of competition available. Matches where athletes compete for their Club in a League or Cup competition. There are national and regional leagues for men, women and young athletes. In Sussex the SCAA organises the following leagues for clubs in the county: Sussex Under 13 League (T&F) Sussex Veteran/Masters League (T&F) Sussex Cross Country League Sussex Sports Hall League (U15/U13) Leagues organised by others (see Links page) include: Sussex Grand Prix (Road Running) Sussex Fun Run League Open Meetings: On the track there are many meetings throughout the season run by various clubs and open to any competitor Find-an-Open. There are also a number of Road Races and some Cross Country. Championships: These are held at county level or above and cover all types of event, most of these are for all age groups. Schools competitions These are organised by the schools themselves, though the SSAA and local clubs are heavily involved in running the competitions on the day. There are competitions between school teams locally with athletes then being selected to represent their area at the Sussex Schools Championships. Beyond that, there are inter-county matches and the 'big one' - the English Schools Championships held annually. SelectionCounty Teams are selected to represent Sussex in Track & Field (Seniors, Under-20, Under-17, Under-15 and Under-13), Cross Country, Race Walking and Sports Hall Athletics (Under-15 and Under-13).
