The Sussex Athletics Network has Coach Development at the core of its priorities. Five Coach and Athlete Development Days have been arranged over the winter of 2009/10.
See the Coaches page on www.sussexathleticsnetwork.org.uk for more details of these.
Flying Coach Scheme
This scheme was previously developed and run very successfully within Sussex, whereby top coaches within the county would visit clubs, schools or organisations to deliver coaching sessions for events in which they lacked expertise or wished to develop.
It has now been taken on by England Athletics who are delivering a similar scheme across the country via the new area Networks. The Sussex Athletics Network provides details of the scheme being offered in Sussex. For more information go to www.sussexathleticsnetwork.org.uk/flying_coach_14.html .
Squads and Master classes
Coach and Athlete Development Days were introduced during the winter 2009/2010, with a series of event-specific master classes for coaches. These will be repeated for the 2010/2011 season, and dates will be put on the Diary.
These have come about through the actions of the Sussex Athletics Network. See above.
UK Athletics Coaching Publications
UK Athletics publishes official guides, manuals and books to help new and existing coaches.
