| Grace Cook from St. Richard's Schools Bexhill showed a clean pair of heels to her rivals in the Year 7 race at the South East Schools Inter-county cross-country match at Eastleigh.
Cook was the only Sussex winner on the day, indeed she was the only medallist and she led her team into fourth team spot.
The best team result came in the Boys Year 8 race where Sussex filled third spot with three runners in the top ten with Hurstpierpoint College’s James Oliver just missing a medal when placing fourth while Seaford Head’s Jake Alger finished in eighth place and Bishop Luffa’s George Dempster filled tenth place.
Henry Leuleu (Chichester) finished 14th, Dorothy Stringer’s Samuel Kamara was 29th and William Thomas from Hasting closed in the scoring six in 35th place.
There was another fourth spot for the Year seven boy’s team with Falmer’s Stephen Ferroni leading the team home in sixth place and Luke Cooper from Hastings finishing 16th.
The Year 8 team finished in sixth team slot with Durrington’s India Spoor finishing in ninth place, St. Richard’s Rebecca Elphick placing tenth and Esther Lutz-Davies (Varndean) 27th.
