All entrants for Sussex County athletics events must have a Sussex County Qualification. This requires birth in the county or residence. Residence requires nine months continuous residence in the county immediately prior to the date of competition.
Attendance at the University of Sussex or any 'Further Education' establishment does not qualify an athlete to compete in the County Championships, unless they have a birth or residential qualification.
Waiver of County Qualifications
Sussex County Qualification may be waived in the case of athletes under 17 years of age who are first claim members of an affiliated club and who have notcompetedd in, or intend to compete in, the County Championships of another county. Such athletes may be regarded as 'County Champions' but may not represent the county. All competitors who enter under this waiver should cross out the words "that I have a Sussex Qualification" on the entry form and under their signatue print the words "No Sussex Qualification"
